As a key driver for gender equality, safe work places and cultural change in the Australian Music Industry we are committed to advocating on behalf of female, non binary and GNC artists working across the sector:
Lobbying
Lobbying state and federal government on issues such as gender equality, workplace discrimination, safe work places and sexual harassment.
Research
Supporting research such as Dr Jeff Crabtree’s report “Tunesmiths and Toxicity report into workplace and sexual harassment in the Australian Music Industry.“
Initiating research such as the “Skipping a Beat” research report to assess the state of gender equality in the Australian Music Industry.
Building Better Tables
Regardless of our enormous contribution to improving gender equality, AWMA is overlooked in Government and industry committees and working groups because these tables were never built for us.
We are tired of asking for inclusion.
Our goal is to blaze our own trails, to create our own opportunities to make a difference and to build our own tables.
